A planned power outage will occur April 28th starting at 9:00 pm. Why the outage? Municipal Energy Authority of Georgia (MEAG) is replacing a power line connecting to the city's substation at Gordon Street & Whitehall St. The line is over 70 years old and is at risk of failure. City officials prefer to plan the repair than wait until it fails and causes a mass outage that could last for days.
The planned outage is to start on Sunday, April 28th at 9:00 p.m.. Power should be restored by 5AM on Monday the 29th. All residential and commercial electric customers of the City of Washington will be affected by the outage. Water service will not be affected. The City of Washington is working closely with law enforcement, EMS, GDOT to ensure public safety. More information will be provided to help customers prepare.
