Refunds may be granted up to 30 days from payment. Customers will be asked to provide a valid reason for claiming a refund. There must be a satisfactory explanation as to why a refund is merited. Refunds will not be granted to customers who still owe the City of Washington on outstanding bills. If a refund is granted by the City of Washington, the account on which the original payment was made will be charged back for that amount paid. That balance will be subject to penalties and interest if not paid by the due date. A refund can only be credited to the original account from which the payment was made. If an account is closed, then no refund can be granted. The determination that the criteria have been met to issue a refund to a customer is at the sole discretion of the City of Washington.
